Business credit for authors?

    It depends on whether you are an employee or not. If you are an independent contractor or set up as a business, then establishing a formal business and business credit may be a wise thing to do.

    • It helps establish the credibility of your business, since other businesses may look you up and pull your credit report.
    • It makes cash flow easier since you can often make purchases and pay later, with NET 30 terms or business credit.

    If you have not already done so, you probably should set up an LLC so that you have limited liability as well. Although you can set up your business credit profile without an LLC (as a sole proprietorship) if you wanted.
